I didn’t start my career in sales. I started by doing work I was proud of — and eventually realized that if I couldn’t talk about that work clearly, the right people would never see it.
Over the last 20 years, working with teams and leaders across different industries, I kept seeing the same thing: the people who were great at their work often struggled the most with selling it. And the people who sold well weren’t pushy — they were curious. They asked better questions. They made next steps obvious. They treated sales like a conversation, not a performance.
